PD: Oxygen tank may have sparked fire at Peoria senior apartment

Police have identified the two victims found dead following a fire at a Peoria senior living apartment Monday night.
On Tuesday, Peoria police announced that Gene John Kaluza, 82, and Joanne Gail Kaluza, 79, were found dead inside the burning apartment.
“I know the firefighters risked their lives and ended up pulling him out of the fire in attempts to save him,” said Peoria Police Officer Kristopher Babros.
Crews responded just before 7:30 p.m. to the fire at the Olive Ridge Senior Living apartment community near Olive and 103rd avenues.
When crews arrived, they saw lots of flames and smoke. “Somebody came banging at my door hard and they said there’s a fire and you’ve got to get out of the house,” said Margaret Young, a neighbor.
