Phoenix adopts zero-traffic death plan; early results show mixed impact

Phoenix recorded 278 traffic deaths in 2024, down from 307 the previous year, as the city’s Vision Zero program enters its third year with mixed results. The city adopted Vision Zero in 2022 with the goal of eliminating all traffic deaths by 2050. Phoenix has one of the highest rates of traffic deaths among major U.S. cities.
