Phoenix residents roll up sleeves for MLK day of service | FOX 10 Phoenix

Nearly 400 volunteers across the Phoenix area honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday by participating in a citywide day of service. The efforts, led by organizations including Arizona Jews for Justice and St. Mary’s Food Bank, focused on King’s philosophy that citizenship requires active participation to address systemic poverty.

Volunteers spent the holiday distributing meals in "The Zone," an area downtown where many of the city’s unhoused residents congregate, and packing food boxes for families struggling with food insecurity.

Participants, including families with young children, emphasized that individual contributions provide essential hope and relief to those in need.

Organizers noted that the service serves as a practical reminder that daily actions can help ease the hardships faced by the community’s most vulnerable members. FOX 10’s Ashlie Rodriguez has this story.
