Polls have closed in Thailand’s general election and preliminary results are expected by 11pm local time, CNA’s Saksith Saiyasombut reports. The fierce electoral contest is billed as a three-way fight between the liberal opposition People’s Party, the ruling Bhumjaithai, and former governing party Pheu Thai. An outright majority for any of the three main parties is unlikely, so an alliance is almost certain to be required to form a government.
