Workers’ Party (WP) chief Pritam Singh has been removed as Singapore’s Leader of the Opposition after Parliament voted to express regret over his conduct, deeming him unsuitable for the role. The decision follows his conviction for lying to a parliamentary committee. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said the move was necessary to uphold the rule of law and the dignity of parliament. He has asked the WP to nominate another elected MP to be the next Leader of the Opposition, with political observers weighing possible successors.
