Queensland rejects Albanese’s gun buyback scheme

Queensland’s government has announced that it will not back a national gun buyback scheme.
The costs of the scheme were planned to be equally split between the Commonwealth, states, and territories.
Queensland has become the first state to reject the bill completely.
Instead, the state government decided to strengthen its own gun laws and amend hate speech legislation.
