Nearly a millennium after they were erected as mausoleums to emperors of old, the sprawling Xixia Imperial Tombs are now marked only by rammed-earth mounds. To reconstruct their original splendour, we must look to contemporaneous structures such as the twin pagodas of Baisikou and the 108 Stupas for clues.
