A record-breaking heatwave is set to push temperatures in Victoria towards 50 degrees over the weekend.
Emergency services are warning extreme conditions could worsen an already severe fire season.
The Country Fire Authority has declared a total fire ban across the state ahead of Tuesday, when temperatures are again expected to approach 50 degrees.
