Singapore and Germany launch bilateral ‘Year of Innovation’

Singapore and Germany have launched a bilateral "Year of Innovation" that builds on an earlier Strategic Partnership. Both countries recognise innovation as a driver of economic growth, industrial competitiveness and technological excellence. The latest move will focus on areas such as technology and future-proofing their workforces. This comes as German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul is in Singapore as part of a regional tour. Speaking at a lecture, Dr Wadephul highlighted Singapore as a key Indo-Pacific partner, noting that EU-Singapore trade has increased by nearly 30% since their free trade agreement took effect in 2019.
