Supreme Court SIR Hearing: ECI Talks on Citizenship Check | India Today News

During the SIR matter hearing in the Supreme Court, Senior Advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, representing the Election Commission of India (ECI), explained the purpose of the voter verification process.
He said the goal is not to remove anyone from voting, but to verify citizenship, age, and legal eligibility.
Dwivedi added that in Bihar no Aadhaar cards were used, while in West Bengal, especially in South 24 Parganas and Malda, fake documents are being created.
He also said no voter has officially filed a complaint, and any discrepancies raised are being looked into.
