In a devastating turn of events on New Year’s Eve, a blast at the Le Constellation bar in Switzerland’s Crans-Montana has left at least 47 people dead and over 115 injured. India Today’s Global Editor Pranay Upadhyay reports that while the death toll continues to mount, Swiss authorities have tentatively ruled out a terror attack, treating the incident as a fire-related explosion. The tragedy unfolded as revelers welcomed 2026, turning a night of celebration into chaos at the popular alpine resort. Valais Canton Police Commander Frédéric Gisler expressed deep sympathy for the victims, stating that the force is ‘shaken by what happened’. The broadcast, anchored by Shreya Dhoundial, highlights the challenges in identifying victims due to severe burns and the ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly inferno.
