Tehran admits thousands killed in protests amid war of words between US and Iran

Tehran leadership has sensationally admitted that thousands of people were killed in the crackdown on protesters in Iran.
Some human rights organisations and activists have estimated the death toll at north of 12,000.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed the US for the deaths and labelled US President Donald Trump a "criminal."
President Trump had urged Iranian demonstrators to "keep protesting" and threatened military action if they were killed.
