Thailand election: Bhumjaithai Party has early lead over People’s Party and Pheu Thai

Vote counting is underway for Thailand’s first dual election-referendum day in history. All 500 seats in the House of Representatives were up for grabs. Under the country’s two-ballot system, voters choose a local candidate under a constituency vote and select a political party under a party-list vote. Less than 2% of the ballots have been counted, but Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s ruling Bhumjaithai Party, People’s Party and Pheu Thai Party are expected to dominate.
