US Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has defended President Donald Trump’s military action in Venezuela following lawmakers being briefed on the situation in Washington, DC.
Johnson’s comments come following the US forces conducting a raid on the city of Caracas, capturing the then-President Nicholas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, on January 3.
The Venezuelan has been indicted on a range of charges, including Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy and Cocaine Importation Conspiracy.
Johnson justified the operation, saying that the president used his authority under the law.
The House speaker goes on to say the US got the job done with "extreme precision", calling America the world’s "great and last superpower".
