Throughout his months-long negotiations with Iran, Trump has claimed Iran is close to signing off on a deal with the U.S. that would include Iran agreeing not to posses a nuclear weapon ‒ only for a deal not to follow.
But Trump told reporters this time is different, arguing Iran has succumbed to U.S. military strength including a new wave of U.S. attacks on Iran this week after Trump accused Iranian leaders of moving too slow on negotiations.
"Because they’ve taken a pounding," Trump said when asked why Iran will agree to a deal now after refusing to earlier. "They’ve taken a pounding like few people could take, and they want to make a deal a lot more than I do."
