US President Donald Trump has encouraged anti-government protesters in Iran to continue protesting, promising the US will intervene.
This comes as up to 2,000 people are reportedly believed to have died as a result of the government’s crackdown on protests.
An official has blamed “terrorists” for the deaths of protesters and security forces.
It is unclear how many of those killed were protesters and how many were part of the security forces.
