Trump to bypass ‘nightmare’ bureaucracy and fast-track $3.2b for California wildfire survivors

In a breakthrough move, the Trump administration will allow California wildfire survivors access to $3.2 billion in disaster relief funds.
The move will bypass local permitting delays that have stalled rebuilding in Los Angeles for over a year.
SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler labelled California’s permitting backlog a "nightmare", which has dragged out wildfire recovery.
Wildfire survivors are still stuck in limbo as red tape, rising costs and stalled aid have brought recovery to a standstill.
California’s strict regulations, along with the scale of the destruction, contribute to why rebuilding has barely begun.
The Eaton and Palisades fires tore through a combined 37,728 acres of land, destroying more than 16,200 buildings in their path.
