UMNO ready for Melaka and Johor state elections: Party president Zahid

CNA’s Melissa Goh caught up with UMNO party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on the sidelines of the ongoing AGM. He said UMNO is ready for the Melaka and Johor state elections, adding that he doesn’t think GE16 will be held simultaneously. Preliminary seat negotiations have started and UMNO will not only be defending all 30 seats it won in GE15, it will also contest in seats which it came in second place, he said.

Zahid, who’s also Deputy Prime Minister in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government, reiterated that UMNO will continue to support the Pakatan Harapan-led government till GE16 is called.
