US launches second phase of Gaza ceasefire

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has announced the start of Phase Two of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
“Phase Two establishes a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration in Gaza, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and begins the full demilitarisation and reconstruction of Gaza,” Mr Witkoff said.
“Primarily, the disarmament of all unauthorised personnel.
“The US expects Hamas to comply fully with its obligations, including the immediate return of the final deceased hostage.”
