Lawmakers in the US Congress will receive a classified briefing on the operation of capturing Nicolas Maduro.
This comes as the Venezuelan President has made his first appearance in the US federal court on Monday, US time.
The ousted leader arrived at the court in an armoured vehicle to face drug trafficking and illegal weapons charges.
Hundreds of displaced Venezuelans in Florida took to the streets over the weekend to celebrate the capture of Maduro, but on Capitol Hill, the reaction is mixed and mostly split across party lines.
Republicans are praising President Trump’s aggressive move, while Democrats believe he violated the Constitution without notifying Congress, and don’t want the US involved in regime change.
