Australians are falling short of the recommended five daily serves of vegetables, with many believing they’re too expensive at around 70 cents per serve compared to snacks like muesli bars at 84 cents. Families could save $40 per week by swapping ultra-processed foods for vegetables, while also reducing their risk of chronic disease. A national campaign encourages small dietary changes as 40% of Australian vegetable growers plan to exit the industry within 12 months, with 64% reporting they’re financially worse off than a year ago.
