Victorian schools subjected to cyber hack, thousands of students’ information stolen

There are fears the information of hundreds of thousands of students has been hacked from school systems in Victoria.
An external third party has gained access to data through a school network.
Email addresses, school names, year levels and encrypted passwords have been taken, but other personal details, such as addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth, were not taken.
The Department of Education say they have identified the source of that breach and have put safeguards in place.
They say schools will directly contact parents if they have been affected.
