In the city of Melbourne, residents experienced a sweltering 43 degrees in the city and 45.6 in the western suburbs. Two towns in Victoria, however, have reached a new mark of 48.9 degrees. Police have charged a woman after her hit-run collision caused the death of an 84-year-old man who died at the scene.
