The United States and Iran are set to begin a week of high-stakes diplomacy Monday after announcing a framework deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a preliminary agreement that has already pushed oil prices lower but leaves the fate of Iran’s nuclear program to future negotiations.
Mediators will be facilitating a series of meetings this week before the agreement is expected to be formally signed on Friday in Switzerland. Trump, on Monday, was traveling to the Group of Seven meeting in France, where the framework will be a major topic of discussion.
