White House’s funding fight with Democrats amps up chances of another government shutdown

As the White House continues to reject Democrat demands in the government funding battle, the likelihood of a partial shutdown grows larger every day.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has threatened to vote against the huge federal spending bill set to be decided on this week.
He has called for funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to be stripped out and renegotiated.
Schumer said what is happening in Minnesota is “appalling”, while pledging that Democrats will block the funding package.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reaffirmed that Republicans are not willing to budge on DHS funding.
Polymarket is predicting an 80 per cent chance of a US government shutdown by January 31.
